Hi, I'm Maria Dillon
Grandmother, maker, and the person behind every review on this site. I combine hands-on testing with deep research into real consumer experiences — backed by decades of tinkering in my Charlotte, NC workshop — so you don't have to guess what actually works.
Why I Started This Blog
A few years ago, I wanted a simple robot vacuum that wouldn't cost a fortune. I spent hours reading reviews that were clearly written by people who'd never touched the product — just spec sheets repackaged as opinions. None of them could tell me whether the thing would actually survive three months of daily use with two dogs and a house full of grandkids.
So I started writing the kind of reviews I wished I'd found — honest, practical, and grounded in real-world experience. For some products, that means I buy them myself and put them through the wringer in my own home. For others, it means I do what I do best: dig deep into verified consumer reviews, ratings, and real user feedback from sources I trust, then filter all of that through decades of hands-on knowledge to give you a recommendation I genuinely stand behind. I'm always upfront about which products I've personally owned and which ones I've thoroughly researched — because you deserve that honesty.
What makes my perspective a little different is that I come at tech from the life I actually live — not from a spec sheet. I'm a crafter, an artist, a home cook, and a grandmother who is always looking for gadgets that make everyday tasks easier or more fun. Whether I'm using a label maker to organize my craft supplies, testing a kitchen scale while baking with my grandkids, or researching the best budget tablet for following along with painting tutorials, I evaluate everything through the lens of someone who genuinely uses these things in real life. That practical, creative background means I notice things a traditional tech reviewer might miss — like whether a gadget actually fits on a cluttered kitchen counter, or if it's simple enough for the whole family to use without a manual.
How I Evaluate Every Product
Hands-On When I Can, Deep Research Always
Some products I buy and test myself — putting them through real daily use in my home and workshop. For the rest, I dive deep into verified consumer reviews, ratings, and real user experiences from trusted sources. Either way, every recommendation is backed by thorough evaluation, not guesswork.
I Tell You the Truth
I point out every flaw I find, even in products I like. You deserve to know the downsides before you spend your money. My goal is to help you make a smart decision — not to sell you something.
I Focus on Value
I know what it's like to watch every dollar. Every product I recommend has to earn its price tag — meaning it works well, lasts, and genuinely makes life easier. I'd rather suggest nothing than waste your money.

A Note on Trust
I want to be upfront with you: this site uses Amazon affiliate links. That means if you buy something through one of my links, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It helps keep the site running, and I genuinely appreciate it.
But here's what matters — the commission never changes what I write. I've given negative reviews to products with great affiliate payouts, and I've enthusiastically recommended products that barely pay anything. My reputation matters more to me than a few dollars. If I tell you something is worth buying, it's because I truly believe it is.
